Weekly Reading Group
We run a weekly reading group at the University of Cologne on topics related to the research areas of the group and its members. The meeting time of the reading group changes from semester to semester. If you are interested in participating in the reading group, please contact us: contact@fromthearmchair.net.
Emmy Noether Armchair Labs
The Emmy Noether Armchair Lab is a series of intensive workshops on topics relevant to the research project. The format varies, from conference-style presentations by visiting speakers, to group discussions of advance-read papers, to state-of-the-art seminars by researchers working in related empirical disciplines such as cognitive psychology and linguistics. The Armchair Lab meets at least twice per year. Information about past and future Armchair Labs can be found here.
International Conferences
During the life of the project we will host two major international conferences. The first, on “The Epistemology of Philosophy” will be on 13-17 June 2011 at the University of Cologne. The second, tentatively on “The Synthetic A Priori” is currently planned for 2013.
Graduate Conferences
We held our first graduate conference on “Meaning, Modality and Apriority” in Cologne on 17-18 May 2010. We are tentatively planning a second graduate student conference and summer school on epistemology in cooperation with two other Emmy Noether groups in philosophy, one on the Philosophy and Logic of Explanation at the University of Hamburg and one on Formal Epistemology at the University of Konstanz. The date is still to be determined.
